I CAN NOT Co-drive to save my life. Some reason this year I have been roped into the job of “right seat” (as they call it in the biz) two separate times. I have been racing rally for almost six years. In those six year I have only had two offers to drive someone else’s car. Just this year I have been asked seven times to co-drive. Im confused. Never the less I love going to rallys, and I will any way I can.
Last weekend I Co-Drove for Viorel Dobasu at Rally NY, we had an absolute blast we were laughing more then I was calling notes. Vio Drove very well we even won the second stage of the day! It rained none stop and we ran almost all the stages more then once so as you can image it was very rutted and puddled. (so fun!!) We were the only car to run just the second day so I guess you could say we won.
I threw up in my mouth a little on this one.
Allen, Thanks for letting us use your Subie
3/4 of Vio far left and myself in the 1st row
Car #289 driven by Gary Wiggin finished 2nd in Group 2 National in the 2009 Lake Superior Pro Rally. Gary ended the season 1st Group 2 in the Eastern Regional Championship after running just STPR NEFR LSPR. 2009 was Gary’s rookie season. I think we will be seeing a lot more of Gary and GW Hoss Racing in the years to come.
For the service crew day 2 started at 4:45am after going to bed at 2:30am to fix a broken primary on the header. With a little help from our good friend Lincoln we had #289 back up and running for the 9:30 park expose.
Matt, Dan and I spent all day on the shore of Lake Superior in Cooper Harbor, which is a very nice and picturesque little town with absolutely no cell service.
Gary had the last nine stages to run including the famous Brockway Mt. The nine stages equal just 38 stage miles and with four of them ran more then once it was an easy day in the car as well as the service area.
Me enjoying a piece meat that chef Thornton prepared
Matt also enjoying some meat on our down time
World class service crew, Dan Thornton, Matt Barrow, and myself Chris Duplessis are in Kenton, MI waiting for car #289 to return for the 3rd final service of the night.
Gary has been running a clean rally thus far making our job very easy so we have had plenty of time to make our selves a dinner of Polish Sausage and crackers and a nice selection of fruit provided by Carole Duplessis “Team Mom”

New Camber Plates
Unfortunately I am not running this year my car is home in a nice warm garage. I am servicing for my teammate Gary Wiggin#289. Gary drives a 1991 VW GTI (of course) and is based in Savanna, Ga. I met Gary when he came through a class at Team O’Neil Rally School about two years ago.
LSPR is Gary’s 3rd rally, he is currently 4th in Group Two Eastern Regional Championship. With a good finnish this weekend Gary could significantly move up in the standing.
