Hometown Hero Rising Up The Ranks

Chris Duplessis, from Bethel, Maine has claimed the Rally America 2WD championship once again. This is his 8th championship win in 5 years. Chris has retired his 1990 VW Golf and will be racing in his hometown of Bethel, ME on July 16-17 at the New England Forest Rally in a 2009 Scion xD with the 0-60 Rally Team. He will be trying to clench his 5th class win this season and repeating his win from last year in the MaxAttack! series.

“I am really excited for this year’s race! We will be back in the 0-60 Rally xD. The guys at Design Craft have been busy repreping the car and making it even more of a capable rally car. The xD is a really fun car to drive and I’m interested to see how the changes work! The goal for the weekend will be to win after clinching the championship one round early, we have no pressure and will be going flatout!”

At the end of July, Duplessis will be competing at the coveted X Games 16 in Los Angeles, California in the Rally Car Racing portion of the event. “I grew up watching action sports and immersing myself in the sport of rally. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought rally would be in X Games! Ever since the first year of X Games Rally I wanted so bad to be competing, but X Games has always be reserved for the top level open class drivers or celebrity invitees. This year ESPN and Rally America announced that the top level two wheel driver competitor may get an invite so my goal for this season was to be on top when it was time for invites.”

Duplessis is the second athlete from Bethel to make it to the X Games. Simon Dumont, a friend of Chris’ has won multiple medals at the Winter X Games in freestyle skiing. More details are to come in the next couple weeks about Duplessis’ ride at X Games 16.
